Our Values and Beliefs
Grace Church exists to proclaim and display the life-changing gospel of God’s grace, through Jesus, within our community and around the world. If this is the end destination and our church is the vehicle to get there, you can think about our core values as being the fuel for our engine. If anything will define who we are as a church, it will be these five elements:
The Bible: At Grace Church, we believe and teach that the Bible is indeed God’s special revelation to His people. Every aspect of our church life is geared to reflect the authoritative principles found within the Bible as we prayerfully seek to learn, apply, and teach others what God has revealed.
The Gospel: The standing mission given to us by Jesus is to spread the gospel world-wide, making disciples and teaching them the Scriptures. What makes this more joyful than dutiful is the reality that the gospel really is good news! We have not simply been forgiven by God through the work of Jesus on the Cross in His atoning for our sin. In His burial, our inner “old self” was permanently removed from us, and through His resurrection we have new life within us as we are born again. Even though we currently remain outwardly imperfect, God no longer relates to us on the basis on these imperfections. Instead, He now views us as adopted children—there is nothing we can do that can make Him love us more, and there is nothing we can do that will make Him love us less! That is good news, and it drives everything we do, from strengthening families, gathering in corporate worship or community groups, developing leaders, or multiplying disciples.
Grace: Grace is God’s unmerited favor, and it is central to who we are as a people of God. That God created us was an act of grace—that He redeemed us even more so. At Grace Church, we humbly recognize that ever-present grace is a necessity to be the church that God has called us to be. Whether in our gathering, community groups, volunteer service, or community outreach, we seek to receive and reveal the transformational grace of God to those around us.
Community: As the gospel of grace continually transforms us, we at Grace Church strive to be relationally committed to each other. We will serve one another with excellence as we fulfill the various ministries that God has designed us for, while also enjoying the transparent authenticity that comes with close fellowship. Because of our commitment to each other and to God, we’re able to give sacrificially of our time, talents, and treasures as together we achieve the mission that God has called us to.
Mission: Grace Church is a missional church. As we make relevant inroads into the culture around us, we’re able to further God’s kingdom one relationship at a time. Our evangelistic zeal isn’t simply for our local community, though. We plan to strategically impact the nations around us as well through the deliberate training of church planters and the multiplying of churches.
Grace Church is a partnering church plant of the SBCV and affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. We also share the theological convictions of the Gospel Coalition, as found here, and we’re fans of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network.
